SOME MYTHS AND BELIEFS ABOUT FOOD | Part 1

food

OUR FOOD :

Food is the pillar of our life. “What should I eat..?” is a question almost every health conscious person would have. In my opinion, Astrology, the science of stars and the science of food, are the two subjects which would interest a majority of people. Health and beauty are intertwined with the concept of science of food. People of any age, feel the need to look good, healthy and presentable and if it’s not that way then life would be boring to live. More and more people have resorted to reading books on this subject which has led to the increase in the availability of these books in the market. There are a lot of questions that arise in their minds, which need to be answered. Below are some of the most common myths that people have about food:

CONSUMPTION OF LIME-HONEY WATER REDUCES WEIGHT / CONSUMPTION OF JUWAR FLOUR REDUCES WEIGHT :

First of all, it is important to know that no particular food product will help you reduce weight. Certain remedies can help you with it, but you also need to take care of various other aspects of food. You must stop consuming spicy and oily foods along with sweets, tobacco, pan, cigarett es, alcoholic drinks, etc. Lime and honey water or fl our of juwar for that matt er, are not magic sticks that merely by consuming them you start losing fats. It’s mainly the lifestyle that a person needs to change.

I would like to share one more interesting fact with you: The food which is benefi cial to one person may not be that much benefi cial to another person..!!

Let’s try to understand this. Very oft en, articles highlighting the benefi ts of a particular fruit or a vegetable keep appearing in various newspapers and magazines. Naturally, a reader is inspired by it and he immediately decides to follow it.

“Once you sprout moong, it will provide good quality of amino acids which provide strength to muscle tissues.” This is a line from an article that appeared in a renowned newspaper. Now aft er reading this, who wouldn’t want to start consuming sprouted moong..!! But what we fail to understand is that if a person is suff ering from gout or has high uric acid then he should not only refrain from consuming sprouted moong but should also avoid any form of protein intake. I hope you understood my point. Now, let me share my personal experience with you!

One fine morning, a middle aged woman came to meet me. She enthusiastically informed me how sprouted
moong was always a part of her daily breakfast. She was appreciative of how her family took the benefi t of all that had to be off ered by sprouted moong and how it is very benefi cial for every health conscious person. Aft er patiently listening to her, I proceeded to check her medical and pathological reports. The reports suggested that she was a gout patient having a problem of acidity and had edema in her both legs! Actually she needed to stop or reduce her protein intake, instead she was unknowingly adding more protein intake in her body. When I made a diet plan for her, it was devoid of all proteins and as a result her pain vanished. This is what happens when you blindly start following advices. Here we can see that sprouted moong are not bad, it’s just that the chemical process in her body did not support the protein consumption.

“Each body is laboratory in itself. Everyone has diff erent digestion, absorption and elimination system. Before we decide what to eat, we need to understand the limitation and requirement of our body”.
